Shale gas water problem solved

Accenture recently released "Water and  shale gas  development" report that the global shale gas resource development has entered a rapid development track, which caused environmental problems worrying, one of the most controversial is the use of water resources and emissions. Report noted that with the increasing scale of shale gas development, industry water consumption is also rising, how to strengthen water resources management and water efficiency become the urgent need to resolve the issue.
Report notes that shale gas production is a highly water-intensive process, a single well drilling and fracturing operations typically require about 500 million gallons of water. Although more water is recycled and re-used, but still requires a lot of drilling fresh water, because water may damage the equipment and cause formation damage, thereby reducing the drilling success rate. Report that hydraulic fracturing  of  shale gas  development regulatory focus, which is different from the conventional natural gas shale gas production an important feature specification. Because shale gas operations on the water, energy and infrastructure needs of a large number of existing oil and gas development for water resources protection laws enacted also need to be adjusted.
Accenture clean energy research expert Melissa Stark said the required amount of water  Hydraulic fracturing  of shale gas development operations the amount of wastewater generated, making water management became the core of shale gas production. Operators in the water and wastewater treatment face many choices, including underground injection wells processed further operations reuse, and recycling of clean fresh water. The local regulatory framework, backwater characteristics in different regions, and different cost-effectiveness, have become the choice to choose drivers. On the other hand, participating companies are continuing to explore the most effective water resource management, now more inclined to water recycling.
Report that operators in shale gas production if you want to gain an edge, but also the need to strengthen wastewater treatment, reducing water use and emissions intensity. With the global shortage of freshwater resources, the growing pressure on the public use of water for  shale gas  monitoring and reporting requirements continue to increase, people will increasingly concerned about how to reduce the intensity of water use in the production process. Report notes that carriers could start by improving operational efficiency help to achieve goals, including configuration and optimization of drilling wells for each well site number. Secondly, through the end of the wastewater re-use of water resources to maximize the value. Finally, the development of water demand less  Proppant  to seek alternative methods of hydraulic fracturing.
